Story Idea Generator
A Newspaper Mining System for an Endless Supply of Plot, Character, and Setting
You want to write a story, but don’t know what to write about.
You need interesting characters, but don’t know how to create them.
You stare at your empty word doc for hours on end with nothing to show for it.
Well now there’s a simple solution, and I call it my Newspaper Method.
If you use my newspaper method once a week you will NEVER run out of interesting characters or plot.
And that’s a promise.
How many times have you sat down and tried to think of an exciting never been told story? If you’re like me, it’s likely thousands of times.
When I wasn’t writing, I was spending hours and hours thinking trying to create awesome plots, true protagonists, and wicked antagonists. The problem was I had little to show for the time. I had a few scattered ideas thrown in a folder.
Worse yet, sometimes I would have an idea for a plot, but couldn’t come up with the right protagonist or antagonist to fit the story. Sometimes it was the other way around. I had great characters just looking for a great plot.
It was a frustrating time to say the least.
But, after years of frustration one day I finally found the answer.
I needed to create a cache of different characters and plot ideas I could pull from when I needed them.
If I had a great plot but no character I could reach inside my cache of characters and pull one out that fit. And if I had a great character that needed an equally great plot, I could search my database and pull out the perfect plot.
That day my Newspaper Method was born and I’ve been using it ever since. My Newspaper Method focuses on genre, plot, and characters by mining newspaper articles and in this course I’m going to give you a high level overview of how I’ve managed to build a list of hundreds of great protagonist, antagonist, and plot ideas with just a few minutes worth of work each week.
